I’m really fortunate that I’ve never suffered from the problem of obesity personally, but I studied it a lot, as many of my friends and close acquaintances face this. It’s a common truth that obesity has become one of the major health issues in our society today. More than half of the American population is overweight or obese. As a result, diet and weight loss plans have become increasingly popular. But not all diet plans work. In this article I have tried to gather all the useful information from my own studies that have helped my boyfriend to realize his dream – to get rid of the excess weight. Having been disappointed with various appetite suppressants and pills that produced only a very temporary effect, he has now succeeded in losing forty pounds in just two months through a natural method.
Any program of weight loss assumes a decrease in food consumption. It’s important to regularly diminish the amount of food you eat and to refrain from many products you enjoyed so much before. I want here to suggest for you some natural means to suppress your appetite:
- Fresh drinking water. Water is a powerful appetite suppressant and if you drink it when you first start feeling hungry, you will find that you don’t eat any more.
- The next best strategy is to turn to green vegetables such as lettuce, cabbage, and other leafy vegetables. You can consume these green leafy vegetables in a couple of ways. Most people don't like to eat them plain. Instead, you can prepare a salad with them. It’s very tasty and low in calories.
- Another strategy concerns apples. Eat the largest apple you can find. Sure, you'll get some calories and some carbs, but the apple will fill you up for quite a while, and that will stop you from eating far more calorie-dense foods.
Let’s also talk a little about the diet itself. Once you are full when eating, it’s very important to acquire the habit of stopping. Slowing down can even help, because it takes about twenty minutes for your brain to recognize how much is in your stomach. Sometimes taking a break before going for seconds can keep you from eating another serving.
It’s very useful to eat less but more often. Many people find that eating a couple of small snacks throughout the day helps them to make healthy choices at meals. Place a couple of healthy snacks (carrot sticks, a low-fat granola bar, pretzels, or a piece of fruit) in your backpack, so that you can have one or two snacks during the day. Adding healthy snacks to your three squares and eating smaller portions when you sit down to dinner can help you cut calories without feeling deprived.
Try to exclude from your diet all the fast foods and processed products. Consume more fruits and vegetables.
Drink a lot of fresh water; it suppresses your cravings for eating, stimulates colon cleansing and removes toxins from your body. Here’s another bit of advice: Trade coffee and strong tea in favor of green tea. It has been used for thousands of years by the Chinese as an herbal and medicinal drink. Green tree is believed to delay the reaction of gastric and pancreatic lipases in the body. These enzymes are responsible for converting calories in the body into fats. By delaying these enzymes, green tea diets can therefore stop fat from being stored and prevent obesity in people. Besides, it increases metabolism, prevents such diseases as cancer, and regulates cholesterol levels.
And my last advice to people who are striving to lose weight denotes physical activity. Even if you don’t have an opportunity to visit a sport club, you can perform a lot of exercises in the midst of your routine activity. Try to walk more, climb the stairs, instead of using the elevator, and play a ball with your child, instead of just sitting and watching him or her.
What I’ve stated above are only the principal items. But I ensure you that you’ll certainly see results without any drugs and medications by going this natural route. You may develop your own diet and choose the kind of exercises that suit you best. You’ll then start to lose about five pounds a week and succeed at ridding your excess of forty pounds in about two months.
